The Hendersonville Football COMMANDOS faced off against the Brentwood Bruins on Tuesday evening. Starting the scrimmage off, the Bruins took control of the ball first. With the ball, Brentwood attacked with their running game. Throughout the possession, the COMMANDOS were unable to get the Bruins offense off the field. On two occasions the Bruins ripped off long runs that were called back because of penalty. Therefore, the Bruins steadily ran the ball down the field. Finally, they capped the drive off with a touchdown run. Next, the COMMANDO offense took the field. With a few short runs, the COMMANDOS responded with their own long run by Senior Fullback #1 Austin Harris. Inside the Bruin 10 yard line HHS took three plays when they finally scored on a Quarterback sneak by Junior Quarterback #12 Elijah Howell. The Bruins then returned with their run offense as they ripped off run after run down the field. The COMMANDOS had the opportunity to get the Bruins off on a 3rd and short, but were unable to stop the Bruins again as they completed a short pass for the first down. After another few runs the Bruins ripped off a 15 yard run for their second score of the day. With the offense back on the field, the COMMANDOS looked to respond as the moved the ball down the field to the Bruins 30 yard line. However, the Bruins were able to stop HHS on a 4th and short to get the COMMANDO offense off the field. The Bruins had the ball right before half when they completed on a long pass, but the time ran out of the half. Starting the second half, the COMMANDO offense fumbled inside their own ten, and the Bruin defense was able to scoop the fumble and score, making the score 21 to 7. After a short lightning intermission, the COMMANDOS responded with a couple of positive runs, but again were stopped short on a 4th down conversion. The Bruins, then capped the evening off with another score making the score 28 to 7 in favor of the visiting Bruins. Shortly after the COMMANDOS took to the field only to be stopped by more lighting, this ensued with an early ending to the scrimmage. The Freshman team also took on the Bruins with similar results as the Varsity as Brentwood won the Freshman scrimmage by a score of 1 touchdown for the COMMANDOS to 5 TD’s for the Bruins. The COMMANDOS face off against the Antioch Bears on Friday at Paul Decker field where they hope to improve on Wednesday's performance. How will the COMMANDOS respond?
