Final tune-up.

On Friday, august 21st, the Hendersonville football COMMANDOS traveled to Clarksville Northwest for the Montgomery County jamboree, to face off against the Hawks from Rossview. With only two quarters of live action to play the COMMANDOS looked to start the night off quick as they gained possession first. Moving the ball consistently behind a solid push from the COMMANDO offensive line, the Black and Gold steadily marched down the field.  Finally, HHS capped the drive off with a 15 yard touchdown run from sophomore tailback, #3 Ladontez Bryant.  Following the score, the COMMANDO defense looked to hold the Rossview Hawks from retaliating.  However, the Hawk offense was able to break off several runs, moving the ball deep inside Commando territory.  Fortunately, with a bad snap and a sack the Commandos forced the Hawks outside field goal range and forced a punt.

Behind several possessions where neither offense was able to produce any points, the Hawks were able to score to start during the 2nd quarter after an interception.  With the score even, the Hawks would throw for the final score of the contest late in the 2nd quarter to go ahead making the final score 14-7 in favor of the Hawks.

The Commandos showed potential and anxiously await their first real test against the storied Riverdale Warriors this Thursday night.  The contest will be the featured game of the week and will be televised live on UPN 30, from Paul Decker field.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 P.M.

The Freshman Commandos also open up this week on Tuesday as they play host to cross town rival Beech.  Game time is 5:00 P.M.
